  • What are the REAP Grant application deadlines?

The deadline for REAP Grant applications is at the end of each quarter (Mar. 31st / June 30th / Sept. 30th / Dec. 31st).

  • What geographical areas does the REAP Grant cover?

The REAP Grant, and our no-cost services, is available throughout California.

  • Is the REAP Grant only available for certain types of crops?

No, REAP Grant funding is available for all types of irrigated crops in California.

  • Do pump VFDs qualify for REAP Grant funding?

If combined with pump retrofit(s), then yes, VFDs would qualify for funding too.

The goal of our services is to help provide funding for pump retrofit projects, which currently do not have any other sources of financial assistance.

  • Can the REAP Grant be used for downsizing a pump if my current pump is too large for my irrigation needs?

Yes, as those types of projects will frequently result in large energy savings.

  • How soon can I start my pump retrofit project after my application is submitted?

Once your REAP Grant application is submitted, please wait for notification from the USDA that they have completed the Environmental Review.  The review is currently taking several weeks to complete and they are strict about not starting a project until this is finished.

  • Am I guaranteed to get a REAP Grant?

No.  After the deadline, all applications will be reviewed for eligibility and completeness, scored out of a possible 100 points, and ranked.  The applications are then funded according to score ranking until funds are exhausted.

  • What if after the pump is pulled, a retrofit is not feasible and I need to get a new pump. Am I still eligible for funding?

Yes.  Simply let us know at the time of that decision and we will relay that to the USDA.

  • Can REAP Grant funding be combined with any other funding sources?

Funding for a REAP Grant project cannot be combined with any other federal funding (such as NRCS or FSA).

However, REAP Grant funding can be combined with state or utility funding (such as SWEEP or utility incentives/rebates).
